Levisticum officinale or Lovage is a plant with edible leaves that taste similar to celery. The name Lovage comes from the medieval name for Parsley – Love-ache. The plant has small green-yellow flowers that grow on stalks that look rather like an open umbrella. Not a particularly stunning plant to look at, it will however provide you will plenty of leaves to add to your salads or soups. The root can also be grated and eaten. Be warned though, lovage is a high maintenance plant that isnt very easy to grow, so its not recommended for beginners.
