Hosta sieboldiana var. elegans or giant blue hosta grows in a clump with large leaves that are heart shaped and have a puckered texture to them. Theyre a bluish grey-green colour. It also has flowers that are bell-shaped, a very pale purple colour and grow together on spikes above the foliage. This hosta grows to a metre in both height and spread. It will grow well in acidic or neutral soil but not alkaline soil unless it is treated before planting. Its prone to slugs and snails, but you wont usually have any issues with disease. This variety has been given an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
