This description is for Heuchera: Heuchera is a genus of about 50 species of plants from North America. The genus is named after a German doctor Johann Heinrich von Heucher. They have lobed leaves and tall upright stalks that are covered in small flowers. The size, shape and colour differs widely from species to species. The leaves can be eaten, they can be added to leafy greens to enhance the flavour. The leaves can be green, pink or bronze and some species are variegated. They generally have a short life-span, living just two or three years. They can benefit from being cut back after the frosts are over.
