This description is for Hebe odora: An upright, rounded evergreen shrub, Hebe odora can provide a handsome presence in a garden, with its rigid, glossy lance-shaped leaves growing in densely packed symmetrical columns to a good height. Its distinguishing quality is its slightly longer leaves, while its clusters of tiny, four-petalled, star-shaped milk-white flowers grow from terminal racemes on the tip of stems in summer. Commonly known as the Boxwood Hebe, it thrives in moist but well-drained loamy soil in full sun. Tender to frost, it requires a sheltered location but planting in containers and taking outdoors after the final frost is a solution. Otherwise, it does well in rockeries, gravel beds and on slopes or embankments.
