Gypsophila repens is a small matt forming alpine that grows as an herbaceous perennial. Commonly called creeping gypsophila, G. repens grows to less than 0.5ft in height and produces a plethora of lovely white and pale purple flowers during the summer months. Creeping gypsophila is a semi-evergreen depending on where it’s grown. It prefers a spot in full sun that has well draining soil as too much moisture can rot roots and stems. G. repens is ideal for dry stone walls, rock gardens and well-drained containers where it will spill over edges to soften hard landscaping. It’s also regularly used as a cut flower.
