This description is for Euonymus fortunei: Euonymus fortunei is commonly known as Wintercreeper or Fortune’s Spindle. An evergreen shrub that grows like a vine if it has support. It will climb, trail or can be used as ground cover. The colour of the leaves depends on the variety. Some are glossy green, turning bronze in winter, others are variegated, with ivory, lime green or gold. There are also slow growing and dwarf varieties. This plant likes the shade but doesnt like to be too damp. Several varieties have won the Royal Horticultural Societys Award of Garden Merit. As it is happy in the shade it is a useful plant to grow under trees.
