There’s nothing common about the Common Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), as the blooms that cover the plant during the summer months are a distinctly noble purplish-pink colour that contrast beautifully with its deep green foliage. The flowers stand in tall spikes and are a great way to add tall, gently swaying colour to your garden. It self seeds, so if you allow this (by not deadheading the flowers) it will continue to bloom year after year. All parts of the plant are poisonous if eaten, so take care not to plant where children play. Plant in semi shade for the best results.
