Product description

This description is for Calluna vulgaris: Calluna vulgaris is commonly known as Heather or Scots Heather. A small shrub that grows close the ground. Commonly found on moors and heaths. The foliage is evergreen and has small leaves, the small bell shaped flowers cover the stems. In large amounts heathers look really spectacular, a trip to the moors will verify this, but they also look stunning in the garden too, in pots or a rock garden. Heathers come in a variety of colours, red, white, pink or purple. They grow best in moist acidic soil in a sunny spot. Until the 19th century heather was thought of as a plant of poverty, and so was not often cultivated in the garden, however with a growing popularity for alpine gardens, heather came into favour.
