This description is for Bergenia: Native to Central Asia, the Bergenia – or Elephant’s Ears – is the genus of around 10 different flowering plants. One of the great things about growing this plant in our colder climate is that the foliage changes colour to an orange-red shade during the autumn months. It flowers with delicate blooms during the spring, and depending on the species can be found in varying shades of pink, from white with a tinge of colour right through to a deep purple pink or even red shade. A hardy plant, it will thrive in virtually any location in the garden.
