Product description

Acmella oleracea or Toothache plant is a flowering herb native to Brazil. It has unusual flowers, that grow rather egg shaped, red in colour, then turning yellow with a red centre. The leaves contain an analgesic that can be used to combat toothache, hence the name toothache plant. The leaves can be shredded and added to a salad, but they can make your mouth numb so be careful not to eat too much of it. In India the flowers are called buzz buttons or electric buttons and are used as an ingredient for chewing tobacco. The Bodo tribe of India make a chicken soup using the leaves of the Acmella oleracea that is said to help cure colds.
