There are several attractive cultivars that have slightly different colouring, such as a yellow centre or a different colour on the outside of the petals. Plant your bulbs 10cm apart and 10cm deep in the autumn. It likes well-drained fertile soil and full sun or partial shade. It's a hardy plant and doesn't need too much watering, preferring dry neutral soil.
