Spoon-leaved Stonecrop 'Cape Blanco'

Sedum spathulifolium 'Cape Blanco' | Also known as: Broadleaf Stonecrop 'Cape Blanco', Broad-leaved stonecrop 'Cape Blanco' | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

Like so many of its genus, Sedum spathulifolium is an evergreen mat-forming perennial with tiny rosettes of foliage, but what makes this Sedum different is its frosted-green colour. When summer comes, it is splashed with a myriad of tiny yellow star-shaped blossoms, which stand out vividly against the foliage. Its common name is the Spoon-leaved Stonecrop, and with its leaves concave and resembling a spoon in shape, that is understandable. Hardy and a natural lover of hot climates, it has a distinct dislike of wet winters, so be sure to plant in well-drained soil in a sheltered corner of your garden.
