Miscanthus sinensis is a flowering grass. Also known as porcupine grass, you'll see why when you see a clump of this growing, it does look rather like a large green porcupine! The grass foliage grows in a tight clump, and the pale purple flowers grow on stalks reaching out from the foliage. It can grow tall, often more than 7ft high, so is best suited to larger gardens. This plant is very easy to grow, it will survive winter and will grow in most types of soil.

Miscanthus sinensis 'Adagio' is an ornamental grass that is very easy to grow.
