Plantain lily 'Big Daddy'

Hosta 'Big Daddy' | Also known as: Hosta 'Big Daddy' | Rating: 1 votes | Print / Pdf

There are about 40 species in the Hosta genus. They have large foliage and a good shade tolerance so they're often used in gardens for troublesome shaded areas where nothing much else grows well. It's native to Northeast Asia and is named after an Austrian botanist, Nicholas Thomas Host. It's an easy plant to grow that will grow up to 3ft tall and 5ft wide. There is a wide variety of leaf colours, shapes and sizes across the genus. They also produce fragrant flowers. They're very hardy and will grow in most moist fertile soils.
