Easter Lily Cactus

Echinopsis oxygona | Also known as: Echinopsis multiplex | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

An easy cactus to grow, echinopsis oxygona has a distinctly round shape, grows generally low to the ground, and in time creates a dense clump that makes it ideal for covering small areas. Often potted, it is better known as the Easter lily cactus thanks to its stunning floral display each spring. A single lavender blossom, with a multitude of lance-shaped tepals grows on a thick tube that emerges from near the top of the multi-ribbed cactus stem. The flower is lightly scented and also has a very large throat. The Easter lily cactus prefers well-drained, loamy soil and dry conditions. In colder climates, grow under glass until temperatures rise.
