This is an attractive tree and has been given an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society. It will benefit from light pruning and will grow best in well-drained soil. It will grow well in full sun or partial shade but not full shade. It can take up to 50 years to reach its full growth potential. A fairly large but low maintenance tree.
