Dianthus subacaulis | Also known as: Pink, Dianthus subacaulis | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

Aah, this tiny little dianthus only grows to 25cm! She’s not short though, she’s just vertically challenged!

Dianthus subacaulis is a small evergreen flowering plant. It grows to just 15cm high with a spread of around 25cm. It grows in a mounded clump with narrow grey-green leaves and pink flowers with five petals and a frilled edge. The flowers have a strong and pleasant fragrance. It doesn't like acidic soil, but grows well in both neutral and alkaline soils as long as it has good drainage. It will grow well in a rock garden and will like full sun or partial shade. It's an easy plant to grow requiring very little maintenance.
