Callicarpa bodinieri | Also known as: Beauty berry | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

Callicarpa bodinieri or bodinier beautyberry is well named indeed, with clusters of very pretty purple berries that appear in autumn. However, the attractive display doesn’t stop with the berries, dainty clusters of light purple flowers bloom in summer and during autumn the green foliage turns a warm red. This shrub is easy to grow, having a fondness for fertile soils that have good drainage and a sunny or partially shaded spot in which to charm onlookers. If you need to liven up a border, bodinier beautyberry is just the shrub for the job and looks lovely in a bed or as a standalone feature.
