Barrenwort

Epimedium pinnatum subsp colchicum | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

This epimedium is definitely not middle of the road.

Epimedium pinnatum subsp colchicum, or Barrenwort is a lovely plant that flowers in the spring with a plethora of bright yellow blooms. These contrast beautifully with its lush green foliage. It’s easy to grow and very hardy as long as you plant it in a location sheltered from strong winds and in partial shade. A great choice for an area that needs ground cover, and can often be found growing wild in woodlands. It also looks great in a rockery or rock garden.
