August lily

Hosta plantaginea | Also known as: Plantain lily, Hosta | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

Hosta plantaginea is an herbaceous perennial. In summer, h. plantaginea produces tall flower stalks with white blooms, bringing colour and interest to shady garden areas. H. plantaginea is best suited to positions in partial or full shade that have well-drained soil which retain a lot of moisture. Large and glossy yellowish-green leaves provide seasonal interest to shady borders, but needs protection from slugs and snails. H. plantaginea is ideal for shady gardens and flowerbeds. It can also be effectively used in containers, where pest damage may be reduced.
