Muscari aucheri | Also known as: Grape hyacinth, Muscari lingulatum | Rating: votes| Print / Pdf
A clump-growing bulbous perennial, muscari aucheri produces beautiful and distinctive bi-coloured floral spikes. Its dense mid-green foliage is made up of linear, strap-shaped leaves, but in spring, a single thick stem grows high above the foliage, topped with a cone-shaped floral spike comprising a myriad of tiny, bell-shaped blue and white blossoms. Commonly known as the ucher-eloy grape hyacinth, it thrives in moist but well-drained soil and enjoys full sun or partial shade. An excellent choice for groundcover or under-planting, on slopes and in rockeries, pruning is not considered necessary but dividing dense clumps in summer is recommended.
