Aechmea nudicaulis | Rating: 0 votes | Print / Pdf

aechmea nudicaulis is as surreal a tender perennial as its common name, and for that reason alone is one of the most popular amongst exotic tropical plant enthusiasts. nakedstem livingvase features light green, strap-shaped foliage in a distinctive rosette, creating a vase in the centre. It is from here that its spectacular floral panicle grows in summer; with its rich red colour suggesting a naked stem is emerging from the vase. The panicle hosts dozens of thick tubular yellow-green blossoms, which flower magnificently throughout the season. The nakedstem livingvase loves humid conditions but shaded locations. Ideally grown under glass, keep it in bright, filtered light and moist but well-drained soil.
