Hers's maple: why not get two and have his and hers's maples?

Acer grosseri var. hersii or Hers's maple is a small and broad tree growing 8-12 metres high with a spread of 4-8 metres. One of the most interesting things about this tree is the bark. It is a deep brown/green colour with contrasting greenish white uneven stripes running up it, giving it the look of snake skin. It has green flowers that dangle from the tree in long clusters, and large lobed green leaves that turn a gorgeous red or orange in the autumn. It only needs a little light pruning and so it's a very low maintenance tree. It doesn't grow too high, so you won't have to worry about it getting out of hand.
