You might think these arty photographs were taken recently, but they weren't, they were taken in 1928 by an artist and photographer ahead of his time. Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) was a talented German artist, sculptor and photographer who loved the architectural aspect of plants. A man of many talents, he made his own camera which could magnify his plant subjects up to 30 times. These images taken with his homemade camera are impressive now, so you can imagine that they caused quite a stir back in 1928. He published a book of his photographs which became an instant international best seller and  thrust Blossfeldt straight into the limelight.
