Garlic has so many uses in the kitchen, if you love cooking them you probably get through quite a lot of it. Why not save a little money and grow your own? It's not tricky. You don't need special garlic to grow, simply buy your usual bulb of garlic from the supermarket. Separate out the cloves and plant them about four inches apart, with the pointed tip uppermost. Eventually leaves will appear, then flowers will grow. When the leaves turn brown it's time to harvest your garlic. From each clove you'll get a whole new head of garlic. Don't forget to save some cloves to start the process over again and grow more garlic! For a more detailed guide to growing your own garlic check out our tutorial.
