There are around 500 species of passion flower so you'll have plenty of choice! The flowers have an exotic, tropical look to them but they grow fine in cooler climates such as the UK; just plant them in a sheltered spot with some sunshine. Some species are more hardy than others so do a little research before you buy your passion flower or ask your garden centre which one they recommend.
Passion flowers are generally fairly fast growing, so if you're looking to cover an unsightly wall or fence quickly, then it's a good choice.
The name passion flower isn't related to love or lust, but actually refers to the Passion of Christ as early diagrams depicting the dried parts of the flower were thought to resemble elements of the crucifixion.
