The dreaded hay fever season will soon be upon us. If you're a sufferer, you'll soon be facing the prospect of having your blissful summer days ruined by a runny nose, itchy eyes and incessant sneezing. There are hay fever remedies you can buy, but they can be expensive. Why not give some natural remedies a go? Use herbs from your own garden and you can have an effective herbal medicine for free. Those annoying stinging nettles that you can't quite get rid of in the garden may actually have a use if you're a hay fever sufferer. In a recent experiment, half the subjects treated for hay fever with stinging nettles found the nettles to be a better remedy than other hay fever treatments they had tried.

Butterbur has long been used as a hay fever remedy. Research shows that it is just as effective against hay fever as antihistamines, but with the added benefit of not making you drowsy. Perfect if you need to drive or operate machinery on a daily basis.

If you're a tea lover then there's plenty of teas that will help to alleviate your hay fever symptoms. Peppermint tea, green tea, chamomile tea and ginger tea are all thought to be beneficial to hay fever sufferers, and most of these you can grow and make yourself.
